Short Hairstyles for Heart Shaped Faces

Jennifer Love Hewitt

A short bob shape is a safe and sexy style for you ladies with heart shaped faces. Keep the cut layered and tapered softening the jaw line. Avoid having a think blunt cut especially within a few inches either way of the jaw it will only exaggerate your chin.

If you have short hair make sure you keep your top layers longer. Having shorter layer that either spike up or add volume towards the top of the head will only draw attention to the top of your face and make you look top heavy.

Side-swept fringes like on Jennifer Love Hewitt here look great with short hair and are also gorgeous on your face shape emphasizing your eyes and fantastic cheekbones.

Long Hairstyles for Heart Shaped Faces

Michelle Pfeiffer

Got long hair? Then great, long hair really suits a heart shaped face and can detract unwanted attention from your pointy chin. Long soft layers will soften your chin area as long as you keep the layers wispy and grazing your cheekbones.

If you have long, thick hair think Jennifer Aniston, her hair is always long and flowing but she knows exactly how to wear it to complement her face shape correctly.

Highlights are a simple way to add depth and multi-tones into long hair, if you feel you like your hairstyle the way it is but want to experiment with colour why not try some? Adding another tone to your hair colour will make it appear fuller and healthier.

Long waves like Michelle pfeiffer really suit a heart shape face. If you usually wear your hair poker straight then adding some natural waves will inject some body and fullness to your hair and really flatter your face shape.

Remember to keep on top of split and frazzled ends with long hair. Go for a hair cut every 4-6 weeks to get your ends trimmed. If you're wondering how long is too long? Think anything over 4-5 inches below the chin, 4 inches is more than enough to look fabulous.

Curly Hairstyles for Heart Shaped Faces

Naomi Campbell

Women with heart shaped faces aim is to add width at the bottom of the hair to balance out top and bottom of the face. Luckily for you women with curly hair this is easily done. Keep the length of your hair just below your chin and your curls will do the rest of the work.

If you have ultra frizzy hair then try using a heavy conditioner frequently as the frizzier and curlier your hair is the dryer it tends to be. To tame curls when they are dry try using a smoothing serum or a wax to hold fly-a-ways in place.

Long, curly locks like on Naomi Campbell will look fantastic on a heart-shaped face, keep them soft and loose and add layers to frame your face and take the weight out of your curls.

If you have straight hair but long for some sexy curls or waves try using a curling iron or some heated rollers, even scrunching your hair whilst using a salt spray will add some texture and body into straight lifeless hair.

Fringes for Heart Shaped Faces

Claudia Schiffer

Brow-grazing fringes are a great look on classic heart shapes. Skimming the eyes with a straight fringe will detract attention away from the chin and hide a large forehead whilst bringing out your eyes. Make sure your fringe is long and skims the brow like Claudia Schiffer to achieve this affect.

If you're not daring enough to plunge straight in for a brow skimming fringe then a sexy sweeping side fringe is a safe option for your heart shaped faces. Wispy short fringes will also look great on you especially if you have thick hair.

Fringes are not only there to look stylish but can do wonders when attempting to balance out features, at the moment your main feature of your face will be your chin adding a fringe can instantly switch that main focal point to your eyes and check bones. Perfect!

Styles Heart Shaped Faces should Avoid

For you heart shaped faces you here are the basics that you should stay away from when trying to find the perfect style for you as they will do nothing for your face shape:

  • Full styles that emphasize upper face
  • Height at the crown of the head.
  • Severe, slicked back looks.

Full styles will emphasize the upper face will make you look top heavy. Too much height at the crown will give the appearance of a longer and narrower chin. Just remember if you have a heart shape face, you have great cheekbones and your aim should be to emphasize these!

cut your hair short enough and layer it lots of times so its kind of spiky at the edges . get a side fringe or a fringe and if youre brave enough, dye it red.this looks really good if your hair is black or dark brown.

Like body shapes there are only a handful of categories your face shape could fall into.

It's usually quite easy to determine what face shape you are simply by pulling your hair back off you face and looking directly into a mirror. If it's easier draw on the mirror with a crayon or lipstick following the shape of your face then stand back and assess!
