Stripes are in for Spring 2011 and this spring in the fashion world it’s all about stripes! They’re everywhere from skirts, socks and even blazers. Thick, thin vertical, horizontal and in an array of colours there is sure to be something stripy out there you just have to have this season but be careful, wearing stripes is not as easy as you would think.
Boyish Shaped Body with their long and lean frame are one of the few shapes that can pull off a top to toe dress sporting horizontal stripes! Stay away from vertical ones as they will make you appear more like a bean pole then a feminine woman.
If you’re a Pear Shaped Body stick to stripes either on your top half or bottom half. Wearing horizontal stripes on your top half will widen your shoulders balancing them out with your hips. Likewise wearing vertical stripes on bottom half will slim you out try a striped maxi skirt and you could even add a couple of inches in height!
Apple Shaped Body need to think vertical! Thick or thin vertical stripes will slim down your rounded tummy and give the look of an overall more slender you. Don’t wear stripes that cling to your shape as this will only make your waist look even less defined, the best thing an apple can do is to make sure everything you buy fits you and your shape.
