Exercises for Flat Stomachs

It’s something that’s really hard to achieve and involves exercise that is carried on over a long period of time. A lot of people lose weight and they notice smaller arms and legs and stop working out as hard but the important thing to remember is to still continue your stomach exercise, just because you’ve reached your goal in other areas of your body doesn’t mean you should give up, it is possible to do and you can achieve toned abs and that ideal flat stomach you just have to put in the work. Below are some of the most successful exercises to do to lose unwanted tummy fat and get a flat stomach.

The first tummy toning exercise is the side plank, the great thing about this exercise is that it doesn’t just work out the front and sides of your abs but instead exercise your whole core meaning that your stomach on a whole will benefit and become more toned. The first step is to lie on your side bending your elbow so that it is directly underneath your shoulder with your fore arm resting on the floor. Place your other arm on your hip or on the shoulder you are leaning on (whichever you find most comfortable). The next step is to tense your abs and move your hips off the ground so that you are resting on your feet and forearm. Your body should now be forming a diagonal line. Hold this pose for around 40 seconds or as long as you can and repeat up to ten times. Swap sides so that you are leaning on the opposite arm and repeat this exercise.exercises

Another great exercise is the vertical leg crunch. This involves you lying on the floor and lifting your legs straight up then crossing your knees. The next step is to place your hands behind your neck to support it and then lift your shoulders off the floor until you feel the pull in your abs. Repeat this as many times as possible.

Sit ups are also a great and straight forward way to flatten your stomach and strengthen your abs. It is also necessary to drink lots of water (at least 2 litres a day) as this prevents you from you from retaining water in your stomach and making your stomach bloated. Eating low carb foods and fewer calories will also help to flatten your stomach. Remember swimming exercising all parts of your body including your stomach and abs.

Bare in mind toning your body is all perfectly good and important especially when it’s your core but if you don’t shift the fat from on top of the abs first you’ll never see your results to the full potential! Make sure you do a lot of cardio exercises if you want to shed pounds before you begin toning up your selected areas. Also remember your stomach will grow and shrink depending on your portion sizes! Believe it or not it is possible to shrink the size of your stomach without a gastric band! Stick to eating very small meals frequently throughout the day ideally with two to three hours between each, a great measurement to go off when debating portion size is the size of your fist, it may not seem a lot but apparently that is all your body needs providing you are eating a healthy balanced diet with all the essential vitamins and minerals needed. The stomach will shrink itself pretty quick and you’ll soon find yourself feeling fuller a lot faster and see the pounds falling off.
